Beloved book store receives outpouring of support after announcing sale of business

we’ve told you about the owner of Alexander books and Lafayette selling her store after about 30 years in business turns out the community is trying to prevent that from happening as Josh mini reports the owner has received a huge outpouring of support to somehow keep the bookstore alive after you know just putting it up for sale and seeing the reaction it’s just been incredible thousands on social media reached out saying they would greatly miss the bookstore and asking for it to somehow carry on ideally for me I’d love to see somebody just be able to walk in I could hand them the key and they could just take over the building was bought in 1989 by book lovers Barbara and Gary Alexander but after Gary passed away in December Barbara says it isn’t the same without him he loved being in here and I did too but I was able to travel and do a lot of things when he was with me that I can’t do now that he’s gone I’m just at a part time in my life when I’m ready to just move on because the business was he and I Alexander books was also a place for generations of cats that lounged around and kept watch as people perused the book aisles looking for something to read I hear from a lot of people young people older people that they really want the feel of the book they want that the atmosphere of the bookstore with the smell of the books and new bookstores you’ll find the latest novels by famous authors like James Patterson but what’s really cool about used bookstores like Alexander books is that you’ll find large selections of their earlier works that you just won’t find at box stores and Barbara Alexander says she’ll help pass that torch on whoever buys the business I would be available to help them for a limited time to kind of grandfather them in which is what happened to Gary knob in Lafayette Josh many KTC tv3 you Ellis
