Checking out Books at EKU Libraries – On-Campus and Madision County Students

This video will demonstrate how on-campus
and Madison County based students can search for, find, and then check-out books at EKU
Libraries. To check out books from EKU Libraries, you
need to first start by finding call numbers for the books. You can do this by searching for the books
on the Libraries’ homepage. If you are working off-campus, you will be
prompted to login using your EKU username and password. Your username is start of your EKU email address,
just be sure to leave off the “@mymail.eku.edu.” And your password is the same password that
you use for your EKU email and Blackboard accounts. Once you have logged in, you will be taken
to your results screen. As an on-campus, Richmond student, you can
check out books from EKU Libraries in two ways. The first option is to find the book in our
library search, jot down its location and call number, find it from the shelf, and then
take it to one of our many, helpful public service desks. At that public service desk, just bring us
the book and your EKU Colonel Card. If you don’t have your EKU Colonel Card on
you, any photo ID will do. Your other option to check out books, is to
use the Library Express service to have the book pulled and held for you at one of our
library locations. To get started, just click on the Find Full
Text link connected to the book. On the Full Text Finder Results screen, you’ll
click on the “Request this item through Library Express” to start that process. You’ll then be taken to your Library Express
account, where it should open up in a Book Request form with a lot of the information
for the book already filled out for you. On-campus and Richmond students should choose
one of these four locations to pick up their books. Main Library, Business Library, Justice & Safety
Dean’s Office in the Stratton Building, or the Music Library. Of all these locations, the Main Library will
have the most extensive hours. Also note, that students on-campus and in
Madison County will need to pick their books up at one of these locations as we will not
mail books to you at your home address. Double-check the form, then simply scroll
to the bottom, click that you consent to the terms of the form, and click Submit. You should then get a confirmation screen. You should both see a Book Request Received
with a Transaction Number at the top of the screen. As well as the book you’ve requested in your
Outstanding Requests. This video reviewed the two ways that on-campus
and Madison County based students can check out available, print books from EKU Libraries. The first is to find the book and take it
to one of our public service desks with your student ID, or another photo ID. Or your second option, was to use the Library
Express delivery service, which we went through and explained. If you have any questions, never hesitate
to ask. Good luck!
