Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (6/11) Movie CLIP – Remember Me (2004) HD

Fuck this thing. Dammit. Hi Hi Didn’t figure you’d show
your face around me again. I guess I thought you were humiliated. You did run away, after all. I just needed to see ya. And, uh… Yeah? I’d like to, um, take you out or something. You’re married. Not yet. Not married. No I’m not married. No. Look man, I’m telling you
right off the bat,
I’m high maintenance, so I’m not gonna tiptoe
around your marriage or whatever it is
you’ve got going there. If you want to be with me,
you’re with me. Okay. Too many guys think
I’m a concept,
or I complete them or I’m gonna make them alive. But I’m just a fucked-up girl
who’s looking for
my own peace of mind. Don’t assign me yours. I remember that speech
really well. I had you pegged, didn’t I? You had the whole human race pegged. Probably. I still thought
you were going
to save my life. Even after that. I know. It would be different, if we could just
give it another go-round. Remember me. Try your best. Maybe we can.

  1. Damn…this is such a spechless clip…its like u get stuck with words in just tryin to describe the beauty in this……..

  2. (2012) My spouse and I have been together for 17 years, but around the time that this movie came out, we'd been going through about two years of sheer marital hell–fights, counseling, the whole deal. When we saw this movie and I watched this scene, I knew that we were going to survive (and we have)!

  3. ..assigning the whole human race…and 1:12 and on..it's the pain and regret mixed in Joel's voice and her voice because she is what he has done to himself..trying to keep that one. Last. Memory….

  4. This scene is just so heartbreaking because he realizes here finally that he won't be able to save his memory of Clem much longer (this is the 2nd he ever saw her and the memories are going in reverse). He is talking to his own memory of Clem (all the memories he ever had of her embodied in a single being) who actually turns out (thank god!) to be exactly like the real Clem and gives him that invaluable advice "Meet me in Montauk" only for him to go there the next day and actually meet her!!

  5. I love this movie….sometimes clem reminds me of different sides to my exes in the relationships that didnt work out….this scene is so deep…screw this..gonna watch it right no 🙂

  6. Hi I have a question I really need answered. Trying to buy the DVD but all of them say they are dubbed in French. Does that mean I have to watch the film in french or is that like an option to turn it on or off?? Someone please help!!

  7. Hi how are you. I have a question i really need answered please. I am trying to buy this dvd on amazon. All of the dvds say they are dubbed in french. does that mean i will have to wtch them while listening to french voices over the characters voices?? or is dubbed an option you can turn on or off whenever you want?

  8. One of the most powerful scenes ever in a movie. This is how a romance movie should be done. It's BELIEVABLE… And feels so real. Movies like the Notebook don't hold a candle to this.

  9. Such a brilliant scene. Such a brilliant movie about regret and second chances. I really need to see this movie again.

  10. maybe I'm missing some but how does Joel 'remember that speech really well' didnt she only give it at the end of the film, and the narratively and chronologically?

  11. She said it twice. Once before when they met (which he dreams about) and then again when she's forgotten that she's already said it

  12. when he says "I remember that…" he's talking to himself in his head. He never actually said that in reality. That's why Clem also breaks character and says, "I had you pegged, didn't I?"

  13. I love this movie to death. I know for a FACT that this particular scene resonates with almost anyone who has seen it. It's such a universal feeling to want to restart. This scene is my all time favourite scene in any film. It just nails it on the head and sums up the central theme of the movie. I just really appreciate the romanticism.

  14. All I can remember about this is paying for the video with the most outrageously positive title and then sitting down to watch what turned out to be a relatively depressing film.

  15. I remember when this came out, I took my best friend to see this at the theater. Her boyfriend had broken up with her.Oooh man!Did I make the most horrible movie choice EVER! Don't get me wrong, one of my fav flicks! I wanted to walk her out mid movie because she was crying! How was I supposed to know what this movie was about! Afterwards we sat watching the credits, she was still loudly crying! Im such a great friend! HAHA! .Now its just a funny story to her 🙂 Shes married to an amazing guy 😉

  16. @BillyCrombie "maybe I'm missing some but how does Joel 'remember that speech really well' didnt she only give it at the end of the film, and the narratively and chronologically?"

They erase Joel's memories in (mostly) reverse chronological order. So you see this scene toward the end of the movie, but it's one of the earliest memories he has of her.

  17. It's interesting how Clem accuses Joel of being married here (their 2nd time ever talking), and then two years later when they meet again she tells him on the night they meet, "I'm going to marry you."

  18. #ThrowbackThursday – Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

"Too many guys think I'm a concept or I complete them or I'm going to make them alive, but I'm just a f*cked up girl who is looking for my own peace of mind."

  20. We featured this film in our blog about Cinema's Top 5 Unconventional Love Stories

  21. This movie is one of the top cult classics from the 2000s. Focus features was making a lot of good movies during this time.

  22. "Look man, I'm telling you right off the bat, I'm high maintenance so I'm not gonna tip toe around your marriage or whatever it is you got going there. You wanna be with me? You're with me. Too many guys think I'm a concept or I complete them or I'm going to make them alive, but I'm just a f*cked up girl who is looking for my own peace of mind. Don't assign me yours."

  23. This is one of the best scenes in the film! The way she feels about herself and he accepting that! When she just dissapears! I can't stop watching it!

  24. This movie is even more heartbreaking now. It reminds me of me and my ex except i'm pretty much exactly like Joel and he is a lot like Clemetine in many ways. We often drove each other insane but I think we care about each other a lot… He can be quite spontaneous. A while ago he cut ties with me for good this time and just moved away. It pissed me off because I was sick of how crazy he can be but now I miss him more than ever. There was this beach we used to go to, like Montauk for Joel and Clementine. I always wish i'm gonna meet him there again someday.

  25. "It would be different – if we could give it another go-around"
"Remember me… try your best. Maybe we can"

That line always makes me think of the love of my life, that I had broken up with over a year ago. That little inkling of hope that comes out of this film always makes me think of her

  26. What it should’ve been

    Best Actor (Jim Carrey)
    Best Picture
    Best Screenplay
    Best Film Editing
    Best Cinematography

  27. During the train scene, Kate Winslet punches Jim Carrey. This was not staged nor planned, and Carrey's response is that of genuine surprise.

  28. Watching this movie while going through a breakup is probably the worst decision I have ever made and I’ve drank rubbing alcohol

  29. If she doesn’t want to be saved, let her go….
embrace the pain. Really learn to feel it. Accept what you can’t change, maybe get a few good cries in if you have to.
She doesn’t want you man. As hard as that is to accept, it’s the truth. And sometimes as painful as the truth can be, it sets you free…
there will be another one. Not right now, but there will be, one day…..
