Explore your Library: Resources

I’m currently a junior a rising senior. I’m studying in the School of Information. So I’m studying user experience design. That’s my specialization, but I’m also
learning about information analysis and social media. I’m actually on the Library Engagement Ambassador
team, which I joined during the fall of this year. My role as an Engagement Ambassador had been
trying to do is to get people to think of the Library as a place that isn’t just about
studying because there are so many other resources that students don’t know about. Like for example there is the Design Lab in
the first floor of the Shiparo Library where you can sort of prototype different sorts
of projects. Or the Video Game Library on North Campus. Just sort of resources that aren’t all about
studying, but still allow for development personally. I think that it offers so many different resources
that a lot of students don’t take advantage of. So a lot of times people only think that there’s
books that they can use for their studies, but that’s not necessarily true. Just come and walk around. Don’t be afraid to sort of just explore
all the different Libraries. There’s so many of them. I know personally I haven’t explored as
many as I’d hoped to. Even like just searching around in here there’s
tons of books that you can fall into that you might be interested in. And I’d say don’t be intimidated by other
students in the Library either because I know when I was a Freshman I actually did study
in my dorm more than I did in the Library because I was intimidated by everybody else
but as I started exploring them more I found them to be really useful.
