Find Health Sciences Books

Find Health Sciences Books

Welcome to a USC Libraries tutorial. This video will show you how to find health sciences books. You will learn how to find ebooks and print
books. We will use the Norris Medical Library homepage
in this video, but you can search for books from the Wilson Dental Library or
any other page on the USC Libraries website too. Use the big search box at the top of the website
to search. [email protected] is the default for Norris Medical
Library and Wilson Dental Library. Click the down arrow in the search box and choose Catalog to search for books, journals and databases. To search for a book by title, type the title into the search box and click search. You will see a list of search results. If you don’t see the book you want, you
can try narrowing your search to Books using the Material Type filter on the left. Ebooks will say “Available Online” under
the title. Click on the title of the ebook. This will take you to the catalog page for
the ebook. Click a link under “View Online / Full Text
Availability.” You will be prompted to sign in with your
USC Net ID and password to view the ebook. Click on a link in the table of contents to
view that section of the ebook. Different ebook platforms, such as Clinical Key or Access Medicine, have different options for viewing and downloading whole books or
book chapters. Contact the library if you need help with
a specific book. Print books will say “Available at a specific
library” under the title. Click on the title of the book. Scroll down the page to see the physical location
of the book. Visit or contact the library listed for help
locating print books. You can also search for books by topic. You can use the Catalog to search again, but
you can also use the Everything search to see all material types, such as books, journals
and articles, separated in your search results. Click the down menu in the search box and
choose Everything. Type your search terms into the box and click
search. Scroll down to the box called Books for a list of books related to your search. You can use InterLibrary Loan to request books
that the library does not have. Use the Services menu at the top of the website
to find a link to InterLibrary Loan. You just learned how to find print and electronic
books. Thank you, and please contact USC Libraries
if you have any questions.
