ILB: Books

ILB: Books

Hello! Welcome to Seton Hall University
Libraries. In this video we will discuss borrowing books from other libraries through
our interlibrary borrowing program. Here at Seton Hall, if there’s a book you’d
like to borrow that we don’t have we have two ways to borrow that book for
you. The first is E-Z Borrow. E-Z Borrow borrows from a local consortium of
university libraries. If the book is not available through E-ZBorrow we then go
to Illiad. Iliad is a system that borrows from libraries worldwide. Through one of
these methods it’s very likely that we can get the book you’re looking to
borrow. Here’s the book I was looking for. Because I was unable to locate it at
Seton Hall University, I opened my catalog search to libraries worldwide,
and found the book I was looking for. Now I need to go and find where I can borrow
this book outside of Seton Hall. I’m going to copy the title
and go to the Seton Hall University Libraries’ homepage, under “SERVICES” I go
to “INTERLIBRARY BORROWING”, and I click book. It asks for my SHU credentials and
here is the E-Z Borrow screen. Because I want my exact title, I’m going to put
it in quotations, and search. The volume I’m looking for is written by
Stephen Vine. I can click on the entry and E-Z Borrow will show me which libraries nearby have it, and which libraries nearby will allow me to borrow it. There
are quite a few, so to complete my request, I simply note that I’d like to
pick it up at Seton Hall and press “REQUEST”. Upon submitting my request, I
will get an email confirmation. When the book arrives within two to four days I
will get an email letting me know to come pick it up at the circulation desk
at the Walsh library. Sometimes, the book you are looking for will not be available
through E-Z Borrow. In that case we have a bigger pond we can draw from, through
interlibrary loan. I’m here at my record, in the book i want to borrow, and here
this blue bar saying “REQUEST ITEM THROUGH INTERLIBRARY LOAN”. If I click it,
I am brought to the Illiad interlibrary loan screen. Here i am asked for my
credentials, and I login. The system automatically populates all
the information for the volume I’m looking for, and all I have to do to
finalize the request is hit “SUBMIT”. An email will be sent to me confirming my
request, and the order will be filled in four to six business days. The first time
you use Iliad, you’ll be asked to fill in a little bit of information like your
name, email, contact telephone. This is so the library can let you know when your books
have arrived. Each time after that, the system will recognize you and it will go
straight to the record for the book you are trying to borrow. If you have any
other questions about interlibrary borrowing, you can go to the library
homepage –>SERVICES section, and hit inter- library borrowing. Here is a page with
links to the E-Z Borrow accounts, the Iliad accounts, and some information
about our policies. if you have any questions please contact
us at [email protected] THANK YOU! you
