This video is a short introduction to
the resources services and collections you should learn to use as a college
student one of the most important things the library offers is help you can get
research help from a librarian through email chat phone walk- in for an
appointment the online gateway to the library is the
website where you can access a large number of databases and search our
collections for books articles and other materials the library makes available to
you during the fall and spring semesters the library is open 24 hours 5 days a
week on the first floor you’ll find the library and research services desk here
you can check out material including books DVDs and reserves professional
librarians are available to help you navigate the resources be smart and ask
for help this floor also has print and tech support offering technical
assistance with printing photocopying scanning and fax services the Instructional
Material Center is on the lower level of the library and supports the Reich
College of Education it’s like a k-12 library with text books educational
games kits and other materials it also has spread the bear on the lower level
there is also a Tech Desk where you can check out laptops tablets iPads cameras
and lots of other technology equipment the Digital Media Studio offers
assistance for all types of multimedia projects the DMS has iMacs the Adobe
software suite and much more the Inspire Maker lab can help you work on a variety
of hands-on projects it has 3d printers electronics and soldering a CNC router
and more on the second floor the University Writing Center offers free
45-minute writing consultations writing consultants work one-on-one with writers
on any aspect of the writing process there are also lots of books group study
rooms and the window to the world international TV broadcasting rooms
third floor is silent study no group work no cell phones main stack bugs and
more group study rooms the fourth floor houses special
collections these collections are special because they are rare unique and
document the history of the Appalachian Mountains and the University the Music
Library is inside to Hays School of Music in addition to books it has scores
CDs listening rooms and more the library is here to support you in your research
never hesitate to ask for help
