AT THIS TIME IT’S STILL UNCLEAR WHY HE WAS WALKING ON THE HIGHWAY. (MM) THINGS GETTING HEATED TONIGHT IN NARRAGANSETT — AT A TOWN COUNCIL MEETING. (KK) THE FUTURE OF THE LIBRARY IS IN QUESTION. BUT THAT’S NOT ALL PEOPLE ARE SPEAKING OUT ABOUT. (MM) EYEWITNESS NEWS REPORTER MOLLY O’BRIEN IS AT TONIGHT’S MEETING—– AND JOINS US LIVE IN NARRAGANSETT TO BREAK IT DOWN. (MO) AN OTHERWISE CIVIL MEETING HEATED UP QUICKLY WHEN TOWN COUNCIL MEMBERS STARTED TALKING ABOUT LIBRARY FUNDING. (MO) THREE ITEMS ON THE AGENDA AT TONIGHT’S NARRAGANSETT TOWN COUNCIL MEETING RELATING TO THE LIBRARY… ALL SAVED FOR THE END OF THE AGENDA. THE FIRST MOTION… TO TRANSFER OVER 400 THOUSAND DOLLARS OF TOWN RESERVE MONEY TO THE LIBRARY… FAILED 3-2. THIS COULD PUT THE LIBRARY’S STATE FUNDING IN JEOPARDY. PRESIDENT PRO TEM JILL LAWLER COUNCILMAN RICHARD LEMA OUTSPOKEN TONIGHT ON THEIR OPPOSITION– THEY VOTED NO ALONG WITH ALONG WITH COUNCIL PRESIDENT MATT MANNIX. LAWLER SAYING THE LIBRARY BOARD OF DIRECTORS ARE THE ONES WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SHUTTING DOWN SERVICES AND PRIVILEGES FOR PATRONS. A MOTION TO STOP ALL PURCHASE AND SALE AGREEMENTS ON THE BELMONT/IGA BUILDING… WAS NOT DISCUSSED TONIGHT. THAT IS THE PROPERTY THE TOWN AND VOTERS AGREED UPON PASSING 2016 LIBRARY BOND. THE DEMOCRATIC WILL OF THE PEOPLE IS NOT BEING FAVORED AND NOT BEING ENACTED (MO) THE COUNCIL STILL DISCUSSING THAT LAST ORDINANCE REGARDING BEHAVIOR COUNCIL MEETINGS. LIBRARY SUPPORTERS SAY IT’S A SLAP IN THE FACE OF THEIR FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS. LIVE IN NARRAGANSETT MOLLY
