Odigia Navigation

Odigia Navigation

Hello, this is Dr. Boko and I’m going to give
you a brief video tutorial on navigating Odigia, which is your online textbook. One of the things that I’d like to do is to
show you how to: number 1, read the textbook, number 2, view the videos, three, take notes
and four, answer questions in Odigia. My goal is that this video will help you to
save time in reading through your Anatomy and Physiology online textbook. Nonetheless, if you have any questions, please
do not hesitate to email me, text me, or give me a call. Enjoy! Ok, we’re gonna begin now. One thing I’ve noticed is that most students
prefer Googling in order to get to Blackboard to access the site. However, I would recommend that you go to
your web browser, and I am using Mozilla today, and click onto or type, www.forsythtech.edu
in order to access your Blackboard or Techlink. Notice that this is the Homepage for Forsyth
Tech and I’m going to click onto Blackboard now. Then you want to type in your username and
your password. And, click login. I prefer to click onto my name in the drop
down for the course that I’m looking for. However, just for your information, you can
also go to the right side of the page and the second box says courses, and you can locate
your Anatomy and Physiology Course from there as well. The Announcement Page should be the first
thing that comes up. I’m going to click onto Student View so that
you can follow me more clearly. This is a current semester course that’s posted
here. So, it won’t be, necessarily, information that
pertains to you today. So now that you are on the course, go over
to the left side of the Course Menu panel and either find Grades and Tools to highlight
or, you can go directly to Odigia Courses. I’ll show you both. Here’s Grades and Tools. And then the Grades and Tools Sections are
listed in alphabetical order. You can click on Odigia from here, or you
can click on Odigia from here. I’m gonna go back to Odigia Courses, and click
from here. Then you can click to open up into a new window. I should also say that until you have purchased
the correct course and section book, Odigia book from the bookstore, and what I mean by
course and section, is for example, Bio 169 is the course and the section is 901. Until you have purchased the correct course
and section book code for Odigia, you will not be able to access Odigia through Blackboard. So here, we are on Odigia. You just scroll down and look for your course
and then Open Course Feed. So this is the first thing you will see Activity
Feed. On Activity Feed, we will not use that. It’s basically for discussion board. However, you should go to Course Outline first. Under Course Outline, you will see, for example,
Unit 1.1 What is the Endocrine System? Objectives will come next and then a little
bit of reading based on those objectives. So you want to read that. You’ll see, I’ll just scroll down a little
bit, you’ll see it for all of the units that you have for this course. And there may also be some video to look at
as well, as there is in Blood. You can click the drop down box for the unit
that you are reading, for example, Unit 1.1. And you will see some practice questions,
such as What is the difference between nervous system and endocrine system? If you click onto that circle, the questions
will come up. I have already answered this one, just to
show you that you will receive real-time feedback. When you have finished answering the questions in this concept, you’ll get a check. So now, let’s go back to the Concept: What
is Endocrine System? reading. If you want to go back to the reading now,
you need to select Content. Select the Content here. We are still under the set: What is the Endocrine
System? But now we’re under the Concept: What is the
difference between the nervous system and the endocrine system? If you click on the drop down box for concepts,
you’ll see the 2 concepts related to this Unit 1.1 Set. So, the reading is there. There are tables of course. Sometimes there are critical thinking questions
at the bottom as well. Sometimes there are also videos inside of
here. But, what I want to show you next is what
you can do with the Notes Section. So you click this Pen and Paper at the top. I had actually already highlighted a few sections. But I’ll do another one. So you put your cursor here, highlight the
words you want to highlight. Click onto the Marker when it pops up (hear
click). And, your section is highlighted. Hover over the section again and you’ll get
this Paper Notes piece of paper symbol, notebook symbol. Click onto that, or the highlighted area. And you’ll be able to type your example notes. You want to click Save. And then you can Print out your book, actually,
well you can customize it. If you want to print out something, you can
either print out the course outline, which is what we saw in the very beginning. Or a
specific concept, which in this case would be What is the difference between the nervous
system and the endocrine system? You can include your highlights, your notes
and your highlights, by clicking Yes. Or not include them, by clicking No. Ok, this is the end of Part 1 of Navigating
the Odigia Textbook for reading. And, I will give you an opportunity to review
this particular portion of the video and then we’ll start Part 2 at your leisure. Have a good day.
