Welcome to the Peru State College Library
This is a virtual tour of the library’s website where you can find journal articles,
ebooks, and other sources of information for your research.
You can find the library’s contact information under the library’s hours. We are here to
help you with your research and any library questions you may have. We try to respond
to all inquiries within one business day. All the library’s resources can be accessed
off campus by using your MyPSC login information. You will be prompted for your login before
accessing any password-protected resources. On the homepage, you will find several search
boxes. The first is the “Everything” search box
that searches for books, ebooks, articles, and all sources.
You can focus your search by using the drop-down menu and searching by keyword, subject, title,
or author. You can limit your search by selecting Full
Text, which will retrieve only results with the full text available. You can also limit
to only Scholarly (Peer-reviewed) Journals. The search boxes search all the library’s
databases except those provided by NexiUni, ProQuest, and FirstSearch.
The second tab is Articles. This will search for only articles in journals, magazines,
and newspapers. Again you can focus your search with the drop-down
menu. And limit your results to full text and scholarly journals.
The next tab is Books and eBooks with the search box for those materials. The majority
of our ebooks can be downloaded to be read offline. A link with information about how
to download ebooks is listed under the search box. You can also contact the library if you
need assistance. The journal tab allows you to search only
for journals, magazines, and newspapers. This is a great search for when you have a citation
and need to find the full text article or you need to find an article in a specific
periodical such as the Wall Street Journal or Time.
The last tab is Research Guides. This is a list of guides according to subject. Each
guide provides links to databases and other resources specific to that subject. For example,
if you topic is relevant to Criminal Justice, you can click on that guide to retrieve specific
database for Criminal Justice as well as other resources for that subject.
Another place to find specific databases is by using the left-hand navigation bar and
clicking Find/Search. Here you can select the “Articles (Databases)”
link to open a list of all the databases organized by subject.
Search the library catalog for physical items and ebooks.
Find more resources to locate books and ebooks. Search for journals, magazines, and newspapers.
And discover reference sources such as the Encyclopedia Britannica.
Next we have PrepStep which has tutorials, ebooks, and practice exams to improve your
skills for academic and career success. Digital scans of College archival materials
is available under Archives. Under Services, you will learn more about
what services we provide. One that may interest you is Interlibrary Loan. This the borrowing
of materials between libraries for our patrons. So that article that doesn’t have full text,
you can request it through interlibrary loan and we will find it for free for you. Articles
may take 1-2 business days and physical materials may take 1-2 weeks depending on the location
of the lending library. If you are a distance student, you may want to use your local library’s
interlibrary loan service in order to receive the information quicker. However, all PSC
students may use this service. Finally, we have the Help webpage. Here we
have useful guides, links, and tutorials to help you with your research.
Remember if you have any questions about the library or need assistance with your research
you may contact the library. We are here to help you!
