Good morning, thanks for joining us, for Local 3 News I’m Rebecca Bartelme.Joining me this morning is Carolyn McManis from the Peter White Public Library. Thanks for joining us.You’re welcome. There is some fun events coming up at the library that are music-themed right? That is correct. We’re starting off on Tuesday, October 8th with a performance of the African Kora by Sean Gaskell.Sean Gaskell is from North Carolina but he has actually studied the African Kora which is a 21- stringed instrument in West Africa where is originated and he will be talking to the audience about the origins of the instrument, the type of music that is played oringinally on this as well as playing it himself and he will be doing traditional songs as well as some original compositions. This is a concert that’s good for all. It’s a family-friendly event. Then later in the month, working with the Hiawatha Music Co-Op we have the Mountain Birch Duo coming in.They are also from North Carolina but they do traditional music. This will be in the Community Room after hours on a Friday evening, on the 18th. For this particular event, it is a ticketed event but it’s at the door so it’s five dollar admission charge for adults, children 12 and under are free. They both play banjo and guitar and they tell stories and it should be fun event. And then the next day if you come to the concert and you want to get to know them better or if you missed the concert at the Hiawatha Music Office on Third Street, they will be doing a workshop called The Round Peak Sound. And so they’ll talk about the particular type of music that they do which is centered in a region between North Carolina and Virginia and then after that, there will be a lunch provided by Tadych’s Econo Foods and this has a ten dollar admission fee at the door. And finally, we’ll round up the month with our Bluesday Tuesday collaboration with the Marquette Area Blues Society. This month we have Blues and they do both classic and original sounds.Sounds like some 3 toe-tapping fun.All the way around.
