SPC Preview – Library Services Today, more than ever, libraries are preparing
students in becoming information literate. It is important to know where to find trustworthy
information from reputable sources. How to evalutate, organize and present the information
effectively. Hi, I’m Jorge Perez, head librarian at the
Tarpon Springs Campus. Let me be among the first to welcome you to SPC and tell you a
little about the variety of services the libraries at SPC provide to its students.
First, SPC libraries are located on all major SPC sites that include the Tarpon Springs,
Clearwater, Seminole, Gibbs, HEC and Allstate campuses.
Your student identification card is your library card and can be used to checkout materials
or use any of the many services we provide. In addition to the general book collection,
the library provides reference services, current and back issues of periodicals, electronic
indexes, databases, pamphlets and documents, audiovisual materials.
Our libraries are staffed by professional librarians, career library employees, student
workers and volunteers. We can assist you with research papers, APA/MLA citation and
finding information for your course projects. Have questions? We can help you in person,
by phone or you can chat with us online with our Ask a Librarian service.
All SPC libraries offer group and individual study areas, computer labs, Black and White
or color printing and image scanners. We know you’ll find our resources easy to
use and readily available, especially online. Just go to our website at spcollege.edu and
select library online from the left-hand side menu.
We offer convenient hours and locations, online resources, for your study and informational
needs, we’re here to help you succeed at SPC. Good luck!
